CEO of Voka – Chamber of Commerce and Industry Antwerp

Luc Luwel is a highly skilled professional who in his rich career built expertise in both the public and private sectors. He started his career in the sales department of telecomcompany ATEA-GTE. And then made the switch to the pharma-sector as Export Manager Nordic countries at Terumo Corporation.

In 1990 he turned to the public sector as an adviser of the Flemish Minister of Public Works and Transport.  In 1991, at the age of 29 he accepted an offer to join the private chamber of commerce to head the private chamber of commerce. First as General Manager, hence Managing Director in 1992 and as from 2011 was promoted to CEO.

With more than 3,000 members and a staff of 62 people the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Antwerp-Waasland  is the largest chamber of commerce in Belgium.

Since 2021 Luc is also a Managing Partner of Voka Flemish Chamber of Commerce. In addition he is a Board member of Flanders Investment and Trade and member of the Board of Directors and Management Committee of the Federation of Belgian Chambers of commerce.

Luc Luwel had a master degree in applied economics from the University of Brussels (VUB), and an MBA from the University of Leuven (KUL).

During his professional career he participated in several international courses at Harvard Business School (Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management), Stanford University (Executive Program in Leadership) and TiasNimbas Business School (Master Class Financial Management for Executives).

In April 2023 he obtained a certificate in Corporate Governance at INSEAD in Fontainebleau.
