The Spanish Chamber of Commerce focuses on SME digitalisation

27/07/2021

Over the past two years, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce has identified the process of digitalisation of Spanish companies especially SMEs as one of its key priorities particularly within the pandemic context.

At the end of 2019, only 1.7% of European companies had completed their digital transformation process. However, the benefits of digitalisation are  apparent: digital transformation acts as a lever for the access to new markets, internationalization, cost reduction or the identification of new consumer needs.

In a nutshell it’s the way for businesses to grow and become more competitive.

In order to cater to this growing need for digital transformation and after signing an agreement with Red.es, a public corporate entity belonging to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce launched this year its 60 Acelera Pyme Offices throughout its network of chambers of commerce across the country.

The offices will provide tailored advice to small and medium-sized companies on how to implement their digital transformation. In addition, they will highlight the advantages of new technologies for business processes and also help to train employees in acquiring new skills for the digital age. For example, thanks to the Acelera Pyme Offices, companies will have access to facilities that allow them to develop new products offering new technological solutions for their businesses. Other services will include advice and information on obtaining public and private financing, and fostering relations between agents in the business ecosystem.

This project received a of 9.9 million euros budget and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The agreement between the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Red.es - lasting 24 months – foresees the entry into operation of 60 Acelera Pyme Offices during the first quarter of 2022. The Acelera Pyme Offices network aims to cover Spain with at least one office per province with the ultimate goal of covering the entire national territory so that every SME will have access to free advice on its path to digitalisation.
