A flagship initiative on apprenticeships Dual VET delivering the skills Europe needs

25.09.2014

In January 2012, the European Council agreed that member states should ‘substantially increase the number of apprenticeships and traineeships’. Subsequent progress has been minimal. This is why EUROCHAMBRES calls on the European Commission and member states to increase their efforts to develop apprenticeships and proposes a Europe 2020 flagship initiative to increase the share of apprenticeships among VET programmes to 50% by 2020. This proposal will form the basis for the discussion at the Business Breakfast.

Martha Schultz, Deputy President of EUROCHAMBRES and chair of the People & Skills Committee
Michael Teutsch, Head of Unit for Country analysis at DG Education and Culture
