Lightening the load: National experiences and best practices for a new EU better law-making agreement

03.06.2015

The European Commission published a comprehensive Better Regulation Package on 19 May, which will kick-off negotiations with the Council and the European Parliament on a new inter-institutional agreement on better law-making. One of the key issues on the table is the assessment of impact and burden of EU laws throughout the legislative process.
With the aim of providing food for thought to the EU institutions, the conference will consider key elements from Europe’s five national independent regulatory watchdogs that could be applicable at EU level. Impulse statements from European Parliament and Council representatives will kick-off the debate, before opening it to the public.
We are convinced that the event will be through-provoking and provide concrete recommendations for a new agreement that ensures “better rules for better results” without imposing excessive or unnecessary burdens on businesses.
