EU-US: EUROCHAMBRES strongly welcomes EU proposal for 6-month additional tariff suspension in Airbus-Boeing case

European Chambers welcome the proposal by the European Commission to extend the suspension of tariffs in the Boeing Airbus case by six months, allowing both sides sufficient time to solve this long-lasting dispute and avoid a snap back of highly damaging tariffs on our companies.

The United States is a crucial partner for Europe, and European business is eager to turn the page on four years of transatlantic economic strain. To do so, and to be able to inject fresh ambition into transatlantic economic relations, the EU and the US must solve existing differences, particularly in civil aviation.

"I applaud the proposal of Executive Vice President Dombrovskis to suspend tariffs for another six months, and hope that US counterparts will agree to this. We must allow enough time to resolve this dispute once and for all. In these extraordinary times, companies that have been targeted by tariffs need breathing space to focus on their recovery. We hope and expect that both sides will use the time effectively to find a permanent and durable solution to this dispute”, added President Leitl
