EU enlargement – the business perspective

While the European Union is about to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the EU’s largest ever expansion and there is a new impetus to a new round of enlargement including the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, Eurochambres conducted two comprehensive surveys on the business perspective on EU enlargement conducted by Eurochambres respectively among companies in the candidate and potential candidate countries (with the support of national chambers in the aspiring countries) and chambers in the European Union.

The findings of the survey report provide insights on the level of awareness and readiness of companies in the candidate and potential candidate countries to comply with relevant EU legislation, the perspective of the EU business community on trade and investment relations with the candidate and potential candidate countries, as well as on expectations from businesses in both EU and the candidate and potential candidate countries on enlargement.

The key recommendations of this report will feed the current debate on EU enlargement, providing the perspective of the business community.
